You extend your hand, and a shimmering shield emits in an arc in front of you, granting you a +2 bonus to your AC for the duration as long as your hand remains empty.
If you no longer have a free hand, or use the hand emitting the shield for something such as a somatic component of another spell, the shield dissipates. You can re resummon the shield during the duration as a bonus action.
