Any greater spell allows the caster to read and prepare any arcane spell up to 5th level. The caster must have a magical arcane writing (a scroll or spellbook) with them. During the 15-minute casting period, they can choose one available spell to read and prepare. Once the arcane spell is chosen and prepared, the caster stores it in his or her mind. The spell occupies a 6th-level slot. If the caster reads the spell from a book, it is not damaged, but if the spell is read from a scroll, the spell disappears from the page. When the caster casts the arcane spell, it functions just as if it had been cast by a wizard of the same level as the caster, except that the spellcaster's ability score determines the saving throw DC (if applicable). The caster must have an ability score of at least 8 + the arcane spell's level to prepare and cast it. The caster's focus replaces all inexpensive material components. If the spell has a costly material component (which is assigned a GP value), the caster must obtain it. If the spell has another focus, the caster must obtain it. If the spell has an XP cost, it must be paid.
