You channel the essence of Azathoth, Dendar, Nyarlathotep, Tharizdun, or whoever is the Greater Evil Deity in your campaign, through yourself into the sky. For the duration, a churning storm of inky darkness in the shape of screaming demonic faces, clawed hands, and tendrils forms centered on a point you can see and spreads out to a 1,000-foot-radius. The storm forms 10,000 feet above the ground. For the duration of the spell, the following deadly effects happen in the area under the storm.

Abyssal Fire. When the storm appears and at the end of each of your turns for the duration of the spell three rocks of blazing fire plummet from the sky, striking the ground at three different points of your choice under the cloud. Each creature in a 10-foot-radius Sphere centered on each of those points must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d8 Bludgeoning damage and 2d8 Fire damage. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage. A creature in the area of more than one fiery Sphere is affected only once. Structures and objects that are not being worn or carried also take the damage if it is in the area of these burning rocks, and the object starts Burning if it is flammable.

Screaming Winds. Winds of screaming tortured souls assault the area under the storm. For the duration of the spell, the area is Difficult Terrain and Heavily Obscured, ranged weapon attacks are impossible there, and strong wind blows through the area.

Toxic Rain. When the storm appears and at the start of each of your turns for the duration of the spell all creatures under the storm and do not have Total Cover from the toxic rain must succeed on a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 Poison damage. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage.

Undead. For the duration of the spell, any creature of the GM’s choice that dies under the storm rises as an Undead version of itself in 1d4+1 rounds. Undead created in this way are not under your control, are extremely aggressive towards all non Undead creatures, and have no memories of its past life.

This spell fouls rivers, destroys forests, and devastates towns. Thousands of innocent lives could be lost. Casting this spell is unquestionably an evil act. After you cast this spell your alignment shifts to Evil, if it is not already. Other gods take notice, and often warn their followers or send servants to deal with you directly.

Nothing can physically pass through the storm. It is immune to all damage and can not be dispelled by the Dispel Magic spell nor can it be altered by the Control Weather spell. The storm also extends into the Ethereal Plane and blocks ethereal travel through the storm. If you maintain your Concentration on this spell for its full 8 hour duration, the storm becomes permanent until very specific actions occur. Otherwise, the storm disappears when the spell ends.

Ending the Spell. If you maintain your Concentration on this spell for its full 8 hour duration the storm becomes permanent, and there are only two ways to end the spell. The only ways to end this spell once it becomes permanent are described below.

  1. Caster Sacrifice. The creature that cast the Apocalypse From The Sky spell must be captured within the Minimus Containment variant of the Imprisonment spell. You then must complete a ten minute ritual within the area of the storm, using the soul gem as the material component. At the end of the ritual, the soul gem shatters, the imprisoned creature immediately dies and their soul is permanently destroyed, and the Apocalypse From The Sky spell ends
  2. Deity Intervention. A Greater Deity with a Divine Rank of 19 or higher must physically be in the area of the spell and spend one minute Concentrating on the storm to end it.
* - (An artifact once aligned to good that the caster has personally corrupted to evil, which the spell consumes.)
