Description
You slip into shadow and reemerge from another.
As a bonus action, you teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the shadow of a creature you can see within range. The target creature must be in dim light or darkness, or be visibly casting a shadow.
This teleportation does not provoke opportunity attacks.
Silent Emergence
Immediately after you teleport, make a Dexterity (Stealth) check.
Compare the result to the passive Perception of each hostile creature that could reasonably notice your emergence.
-
If your Stealth check exceeds a creature’s passive Perception, that creature does not notice you emerge.
-
If your Stealth check fails, that creature is aware of your position as normal.
Predatory Strike
Until the end of your current turn:
-
Your first weapon attack against a creature that failed to notice your emergence is made with advantage.
-
Once you make an attack, hit or miss, this benefit ends.
Tethered Shadow (Bonus Effect)
If the creature whose shadow you teleport to is a Participant in your Nihility’s Tether, you gain the following additional benefits:
-
You have advantage on the Stealth check made as part of Silent Emergence.
-
Until the start of your next turn, hostile creatures that failed to notice your emergence have disadvantage on opportunity attacks against you.
-
The tethered creature instinctively senses your arrival and may choose to shift 5 feet (no action required) immediately after you appear, provided they remain in dim light or darkness.
This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.
Additional Rules
-
You must teleport to the shadow of a creature, not an object.
-
You cannot cast this spell while in bright light with no visible shadows.
-
You cannot bring other creatures with you.
-
If the creature whose shadow you target moves before your teleport resolves, the spell fails but is not expended.
“Those who bleed for you cast deeper shadows.”
