You raise your weapon or holy focus toward the heavens and invoke the authority of the High Heavens. With a thunderous chime of celestial power, a spiraling hammer of pure divine energy manifests at your side and begins to orbit you, carving glowing sigils of judgment through the air. The hammer moves in an expanding spiral, sweeping outward in wide, radiant arcs. Each rotation leaves behind shimmering trails of golden light, humming with sacred resonance. The air fills with the sound of tolling bells and echoing choirs as the hammer passes, its presence warping reality itself with holy purpose.
Spiral of Judgment
When you cast this spell, you conjure one Blessed Hammer that orbits your body in a spiraling pattern of divine energy. The hammer moves in a circular path around you with an initial 10-foot radius. Each hammer persists for 2 rounds, and during each of those rounds it strikes every hostile creature in its path once per round as the spiral passes through them. On a successful hit, a creature takes 1d4 radiant damage, and Fiends and Undead suffer an additional 1d4 radiant damage as the holy power sears their corrupted essence.
| Character Level | Base Damage Dice | Bonus vs Fiends & Undead |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | d4 Radiant | +1d4 Radiant |
| 3rd | d6 Radiant | +1d6 Radiant |
| 7th | d8 Radiant | +1d8 Radiant |
| 11th | d10 Radiant | +1d10 Radiant |
| 15th | d12 Radiant | +1d12 Radiant |
As the caster grows in divine authority, the radiant power of Blessed Hammer increases. The spell’s base damage die scales with the caster’s character level, as shown on the table below. This die represents the holy force carried by each hammer when it strikes.
In addition, when a target is a Demon, Devil, or Undead, the hammer inflicts one additional radiant damage die of the same type. This bonus die represents the spell’s unique interaction with creatures of corruption and is treated as separate judgment damage. This additional die is applied only once per round to each affected creature, regardless of how many hammers strike that creature in that round, and it is not multiplied or duplicated by higher-level spell slots, critical hits, or other effects that increase the number of hammers.
Even when Blessed Hammer is cast using a higher-level spell slot to create additional hammers, the bonus die against Demons, Devils, and Undead remains a single, independent instance of damage, ensuring the spell retains its signature lethality against the forces of Hell without overwhelming encounter balance.
