You attempt to wield the powers of death to force a creature's spirit out of it's body. The target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw, or have their spirit forced from their body, appearing in an unoccupied space of your choice within 10ft of the body. The evicted spirit's game statistics are replaced by the stat block of a ghost, but the target retains its alignment, personality. The target gains a number of d4 Temporary Hitpoints equal to it's Player Level, or Challenge Rating, whichever is higher. These Temporary Hit Points vanish if any remain when the spell ends.
The target is limited in the actions it can perform by the anatomy of its new form, and it can't cast spells. The target can attempt to return to a material form using the Possession action, but if it attempts to return to it's former body it must first repeat the Charisma saving throw. If the target successfully possesses it's original form then the spell ends.
On a failed save, the action is wasted. By the time an hour has passed, if the target is not currently Possessing another humanoid or other suitable form (as decided by the DM), the target's spirit is dragged to the domains of death and dies.
