Damage/Effect

You release a dense, black mist saturated with abyssal water and salt, spreading outward from you.

The mist fills a 100-foot-diameter cylinder (50-foot radius, 30 feet high). For every slot level above 4th, the radius increases by 10 feet.

  • Creatures can see clearly only within 5 feet.

  • Beyond 5 feet, the area is heavily obscured, effectively imposing blinded conditions for sight-based perception.

  • Ranged attacks targeting creatures beyond 5 feet are made with disadvantage, and creatures have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks to hide within the mist.

Abyssal Density

The mist has supernatural resistance to dispersal.

  • Fire or thunder area effects reduce the mist’s remaining duration by 1 minute.

  • Strong wind effects (such as gust of wind or control winds) reduce the duration by 2 minutes.

  • If the duration is reduced to 0, the mist immediately dissipates.

The mist does not reduce damage from these effects; only its own persistence is affected.

Elemental Interactions

  • The mist has no vulnerability to earth-based effects.

  • The mist has disadvantage against wind-based effects, doubling duration reduction.

Abyssal Affinity

If you are under the effect of a feature, spell, or transformation tied to the sea, abyss, or monstrous aquatic nature (such as a subclass feature, racial trait, or DM-approved form):

  • You ignore the heavily obscured effects of Abyssal Mist.

  • You can see normally through the mist.

At Higher Levels

When cast using a 5th-level slot or higher, creatures of your choice within the mist are undetectable by divination magic and magical sensing effects while both the creature and the sensor are within the mist.
