You give temporary life to sculpted material, creating a golem of up to CR 4 to serve you for the duration of the spell. The body of the golem must be assembled by an expert craftsperson and made of materials that cost at least 2,500 gp and that are appropriate to the golem’s type. For example, ornate stained glass can be animated into a stained-glass golem.
The golem follows your commands and carries them out to the best of its understanding when you are not present. If the golem enters combat alongside you, it acts immediately after your turn and follows your lead, as described below:
• Default Actions. You can verbally instruct the golem to follow, stay, or flee and also take the Dash action. This requires no action on your part. The golem uses its reaction to make opportunity attacks against your enemies when able.
• Move and Attack. You can use a bonus action to command the golem to move and take an action on its next turn. It can use any action available to it, except for multiattack.
The spell ends early if you cast this spell again or if the golem is reduced to 0 hit points. If the golem’s body is not destroyed when it is slain, you can salvage half the cost of materials from its remains.
If you cast this spell on the same form every day for a year, its effect becomes permanent.
At Higher Levels. You can animate a more powerful golem by casting this spell with a higher level spell slot. The cost of the golem’s body increases.
