Arcane chains shoot from the ground to restrain a target you can see within range. The number of chains that you conjure is equal to your spellcasting ability modifier (minimum of 1). The target must succeed a Dexterity saving throw to half the number of chains when the spell is cast (rounded down). The only action the target can make while restrained is to make a Strength saving throw to break one of the chains. If another creature wants to break a chain, the AC of the chain is equal to your Spell Save DC; on a hit, the chain breaks and disintegrates.
When the spell ends, the conjured chains disintegrate.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level and higher, the number of targets you can restrain is increased by 1.
