This spell, born of desperation and undying will, was first wrought as a bitter bulwark against that which would have broken lesser men. Desperation makes for strange bedfellows and stranger sources of power.
You brandish the weapon used in this spell’s casting and make a melee attack with it against one creature within your melee reach. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects, and you cause bitter-smelling black and white flames to erupt from the creature, dealing 1d4 necrotic damage and 1d4 radiant damage. You also gain temporary hit points equal to your level for one minute.
At Higher Levels. This spell’s damage increases by 1d4 necrotic and 1d4 radiant damage when you reach 5th level (2d4 necrotic + 2d4 radiant), 11th level (3d4 necrotic + 3d4 radiant), and 17th level (4d4 necrotic + 4d4 radiant).
* - (A hearty root of some plant and something you can make a melee attack with.)
