Description: You shatter the target's perception of reality, convincing their mind that their body has been grievously wounded. The pain is not real — but the body does not know that.
Roleplaying: You hiss "Crede dolorem" and draw your fingers through the air as if carving an invisible wound into your target.
How does it work: Choose a creature within range. The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the target takes 2d8 psychic damage at the start of each of it turns. The illusion strikes at the creature's greatest strength — the target suffers disadvantage on all rolls involving their primary ability score for the duration. This effect lasts for 3 rounds, dealing a total of 6d8 psychic damage. If the target is still standing after the 3rd round, their body realizes the wounds were never real — all HP lost from this spell are immediately restored. If the target reaches 1 HP before the illusion fades, they fall unconscious but do not die. On a successful save, the target takes half damage and the disadvantage effect is avoided. If the spell is recast on the same target before the effect expires, the duration is extended without resetting accumulated damage or removing the current effect.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you will increase effect rounds by 1 for each spell slot level.
