Radiant (...)

A blinding column of condensed aether erupts from the caster’s hand and streaks forward in a beam of pure radiant and force energy. The beam travels in a straight line up to 120 feet, affecting every creature and object in a 5-foot-wide line along its path. The beam ignores nonmagical cover less than total cover and can cut through most barriers of fragile material.

When you cast this spell, choose a point within range and a direction. Each creature in the beam’s path must make a Dexterity saving throw.

  • On a failed save, a creature takes 18d8 radiant damage + 9d8 force damage and is blinded until the end of its next turn. If the creature is concentrating, it must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or lose concentration.
  • On a successful save, a creature takes half the damage and is not blinded.

Objects in the beam’s path take the same damage and are affected normally by damage to objects. The beam sears through nonmagical wood, glass, and similar materials; it deals triple damage to objects made of such materials. The beam does not automatically destroy magic items, but particularly fragile or attuned items suffer effects.

If the beam strikes a reflective surface (mirror or polished metal) at a point where the surface is within the beam’s path and the surface is at least 1 foot square, the caster may choose to have the beam reflect once at a 90-degree angle from the point of impact; the reflected beam continues for the remaining range and affects creatures in its new path. A creature hit by both the original and reflected beam makes separate saves for each hit.
