You touch one object and magically sense the lingering emotions, thoughts, and memories that its users have psychically imprinted upon it.
You experience the most significant psychic imprints left upon the object within the last 20 years. These may take the form of isolated emotions, discrete thoughts, or fully-realized memories. If no significant event occurred in connection to the object during that time, or if there were no intelligent minds to witness those events, you might not sense any psychic imprints on the object.
The DM decides what imprints are left on the object. The imprints are experienced from the perspective of the mind that imprinted them onto the object, which is usually the creature that spent the most time with the object or that felt most emotionally attached to it. An event is more likely to be imprinted if the memories, thoughts, or emotions associated with that event are intense, shocking, or memorable to the mind.
At Higher Levels. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you can sense the psychic imprints from up to 100 years ago, (6th level), 500 years ago (7th level), 2,500 years ago (8th level), or any time in the object’s past (9th level).
