Barrier Weaving

You gather raw protective magic around you, which remains at your disposal for the duration of the spell. While the spell persists, you can shape this magic into solid arcane barriers.

Creating or reshaping barriers requires your time and focus, but does not end the spell.

Barrier Creation

While concentrating on this spell, you may use your action to begin forming a barrier. You must maintain focus during its creation time:

• Segmented Barrier (1 minute):
  After 1 minute, you create one barrier section. Each section must:

  • Fit within a 10-foot by 10-foot area
  • Be of any shape (not necessarily flat)
  • Be free-floating or supported by a surface
  • Be contiguous with at least one other section you have created

  You can have up to 10 sections at the same time.

• Spherical Barrier (10 minutes):
  After 10 minutes, you create a sphere with a radius of 10 feet centered on a point within your reach. The sphere can intersect with solid objects and surfaces.

You can have either a spherical barrier or segmented barriers active at one time, not both.

Barrier Properties

• They are stationary and cannot be moved
• No creature, object, spell, or magical effect can pass through them
• Spells cannot be cast through them
• They are semitransparent, smooth to the touch, and visibly magical
• They are 1 inch thick

Additional Rules

• Barriers always appear in a space in front of you within your reach
• You may spend an action to dismiss any barrier section by touching it and willing it to vanish
• If your concentration ends, all barriers created by this spell persist until 1 hour passes since the last time you cast this spell
• You may extend this duration by casting this spell again

At Higher Levels

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the barriers increase in size:

• Segmented Barrier:
  • The maximum size of each section increases by 5 feet per side for each slot level above 3rd (15×15 ft at 4th level, 20×20 ft at 5th level, etc.)
  • The maximum number of sections remains 10
• Spherical Barrier:
  • The radius increases by 5 feet for each slot level above 3rd

Casting this spell using a higher-level slot does not increase the duration of existing barriers. To extend their duration, it is sufficient to recast this spell using a 3rd-level spell slot.
