You create a ball of lightning 10 feet in radius at a point within range that you can see. Any creature within the sphere of lightning when you cast this spell takes 1d12 lightning damage, and their movement is halved unless they succeed on a Constitution saving throw. If there is any grounded metal that is within the sphere upon casting, the ball dissipates and the spell ends.
As an action, you may move the ball up to 15 feet in any direction as long as it remains within the range of this spell. If you end your turn with the ball of lightning outside the range of this spell, the ball dissipates and this spell ends. Any creature that is caught in the ball when you move it or ends their turn inside the ball takes 1d12 lightning damage and must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or their movement is halved.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage caused by both effects of this spell are increased by 1d12 for each spell slot level above 1st.
