Blue flames cover the ground in a 30-foot-radius, 10 foot tall Cylinder centered on a point within range and last for the duration of this spell. The cylinder's area is Lightly Obscured. When the flames appear, each creature in it makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 5d8 Fire damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature must also make this save when it enters the Cylinder or ends its turn there. A creature makes this save only once per turn. You can replace the damage type with Lightning, Cold, or psychic damage. While in the Blaze, a creature's speed is halved.
Using a higher level spell slot: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of level 5 or higher, the fire damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 4th.
