You conjure chains  (made of whatever) that lash out toward a creature you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or become Restrained for the duration as the chains bind its limbs and anchor it in place.

While restrained in this way, the creature takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage at the start of each of its turns as the chains tighten. As an action, the restrained creature (or another creature within 5 feet) can make a Strength (Athletics) check against your spell save DC, breaking the chains on a success.

As a bonus action on subsequent turns, you can redirect the chains to manipulate the environment instead of damaging the target. When you do so, pull a small or smaller unattended object within 30 feet up to 20 feet toward you, attempt to grapple a different creature within range (ending the effect on the original target), secure the chains to a solid surface, granting advantage on checks made to climb, hold a door shut, or brace against forced movement.

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd, and you may target one additional creature for every two slot levels above 2nd (each creature makes its own saving throw).
