Spell Description
You thrust your hand into the Seidr Nexus and pull forth a lattice of shimmering soul‑threads. These spectral strands erupt outward, anchoring themselves to the ground, walls, and air. The battlefield becomes a glowing web of ancestral resonance — one that entangles the living, reveals the hidden, and binds the soul itself.
Effects
Soul‑Web Zone
Choose a point you can see within range. A 20‑foot‑radius sphere becomes filled with drifting, glowing threads visible to all creatures.
The area counts as difficult terrain for enemies.
Mass Binding
When the web appears, and whenever a creature starts its turn in the zone, it must make a Dexterity saving throw.
On a failed save, the creature becomes Restrained by spectral threads.
A restrained creature:
-
Has speed 0
-
Has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws
-
Has disadvantage on attack rolls
-
Grants advantage to attacks made against it
-
Cannot benefit from being invisible
A creature can use its action to make a Strength or Wisdom check (its choice) against your spell save DC, ending the restraint on a success.
Soul‑Revelation
Invisible, ethereal, or magically hidden creatures inside the zone are fully revealed as glowing silhouettes.
This includes:
-
Invisible creatures
-
Creatures under blur, displacement, or similar effects
-
Ethereal creatures
-
Creatures hidden by illusions
They remain visible as long as they stay in the zone.
Thread‑Snare Pulse (1/round)
Once per round, when a creature becomes restrained by the web, you may choose to unleash a pulse of soul‑light.
The creature takes 2d8 radiant or psychic damage (your choice).
This represents the web tightening around their soul‑signature.
Teleportation Lock
Creatures restrained by the web cannot teleport or magically relocate.
If they attempt to do so, the spell flares violently:
-
The teleport fails
-
The creature takes 2d6 psychic damage
At Higher Levels
When cast using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the radius of the web increases by 5 feet for each slot level above 5th.
Flavor Notes for Chardis
-
Hiddenfolk describe this spell as “casting the Nexus upon the world.”
-
Web Walkers use it to lock down entire Grottos or capture multiple foes at once.
-
The Branded react violently, their soul‑threads sparking with static.
-
Rune‑Bound Outsiders appear as double silhouettes tangled in overlapping threads.
-
Spirits instinctively avoid the web, sensing its ancestral authority.
