You reach out and transmute an instance of elemental energy, altering its fundamental alchemical state. Choose an effect within range that is no more than 10 feet in size, which is currently dealing acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder damage. You change that energy into another of those damage types (for example, turning a lit torch into a snow-covered stick, or a vat of acid into an electrical torrent).
While concentrating on this spell, you can use a bonus action on each of your turns to change the affected energy into a different eligible damage type.
If you target an elemental effect created by an unwilling creature that can see you, that creature can make a Constitution saving throw. On a successful save, the spell has no effect and ends. An unwilling creature that fails this initial saving throw but maintains control over the altered effect (such as a wizard concentrating on a Flaming Sphere spell), that creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
When the spell ends, the affected energy returns to its original state.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the maximum size of an effect you can target increases by 10 feet for each slot level above 1st.
