You instantly know the single most valuable item (by monetary/gold piece value) within a 60-foot cone in front of you. You learn its exact market value in gold pieces. Magical properties are ignored for this valuation — a powerful magic sword is valued only by the cost of its materials and craftsmanship.

For every 1,000 gp of the item’s value (rounded up), there is a 1% cumulative chance that Abbathor himself notices the item and covets it. If he does notice it, there is an equal percentage chance that he sends an avatar to claim it. The total chance cannot exceed 95%.

  • If an avatar appears, it materializes within 1d6 rounds somewhere within 120 feet of the item.
  • The avatar’s sole purpose is to retrieve the item and depart. It ignores the caster and all other creatures unless they directly interfere with its retrieval of the item.
  • The avatar uses the statistics of a Deva but is fanatically focused only on the item. It fights only as necessary to secure the treasure and then leaves.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the cone’s length increases by 30 feet for each slot level above 3rd.
