You invoke an ancient runic dominion that overwrites the battlefield with the memory of the Ironwood Barrow.

Choose a point within range. A 60-foot-radius sphere centered on that point becomes filled with spectral black roots, standing stones, drifting ash, and dim twilight. The area is heavily obscured to creatures of your choice until the start of your next turn, and thereafter remains lightly obscured for the duration.

The area becomes difficult terrain for hostile creatures.

When a hostile creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become Marked by the Ironwood and a crown of Ironwood Thornvines sit upon thier head until the spell ends.

A Marked creature suffers the following effects:

Its speed is reduced by 10 feet.

It has disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks.

It cannot benefit from invisibility.

Once per turn, when it takes damage, it takes an additional 1d8 psychic damage.

A Marked creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

While concentrating on this spell, you gain the following benefits within the domain:

You always know the location of Marked creatures within the area.

When a Marked creature misses an attack roll, it takes psychic damage equal to your spellcasting modifier.

As a bonus action, you may summon a spectral warrior adjacent to a Marked creature you can see within the domain. The warrior immediately makes a melee spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 2d10 force damage. The spectral warrior then vanishes.

You may summon spectral warriors a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.

Additionally, once before the spell ends, you may force one Marked creature you can see within the domain to make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, the creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. While frightened in this way, its speed becomes 0 until the end of its next turn. The creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

At Higher Levels

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level or higher, the radius increases to 90 feet, the additional psychic damage increases to 2d8, and the spectral warrior’s damage increases to 3d10.
