Damage

This spell requires you to make a specific hand gesture, where you absorb energy between your palms, put your wrists together, and speak the command word to unleash a wave of force magic. Make a ranged attack roll. On a hit, you deal 1d48 force damage.

If you have a dip in the monk class, you can roll your damage die twice and take the higher roll.

If you think this spell is overpowered, consider a few key facts.
1.) Scorching Ray does an average of 21 fire damage, and has a range of 120ft. It scales up 2d6 per spell slot level.
2.) Scorching Ray will likely hit with atleast one of its multiple rays. With more damage dice, Scorching Ray has lower variance of damage.
3.) Wave Motion Blast does an average of 24.5 force damage, and has a range of 20ft. It does not scale up per spell slot level.
4.) Wave Motion Blast is an all or nothing attack. Even if you hit, Wave Motion Blast has high variance of damage with just one damage die.

However, the monk dip will admittedly make this spell very powerful.
1.) Fireball, a level three spell, does about 28 fire damage on average, but hits multiple opponents, and never technically misses. It also has a wide casting range of 150ft.
2.) Wave Motion Blast, a level two spell,  now does about 32.5 force damage on average with a monk dip, but hits a single foe, and has a chance to miss. It has a short range.

Considering all of the above, I believe the power of this spell is fit for level 2.
