EFFECT:

You name a creature you can see within range and trace an invisible tally over its heart. For the duration, the first time each round the target deals damage to another creature, that damage is reduced by 1d6.

The amount reduced is "owed" and is recorded by the spell. The total debt cannot exceed 15. When the spell ends, choose one creature you can see within 60 feet (including yourself):

• The Payout: The chosen creature gains Temporary Hit Points equal to the total debt.
• The Collection: The target that owed the debt takes Necrotic damage equal to the total debt.

If the target drops to 0 Hit Points before the spell ends, the debt is lost and the spell ends with no payout or collection.

AT HIGHER LEVELS.

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the maximum debt increases by 10 for each slot level above 1st.
