You choose up to six creatures you can see within range and cause their throats to constrict and their lungs to swell shut. Each target must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature that doesn’t need to breathe is unaffected.
On a failed save, a target begins asphyxiating for the duration. While asphyxiating this way, the target has the Slowed condition. At the start of each of its turns, it takes 3d6 Necrotic damage.
At the end of each of its turns, the target repeats the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success.
If a target fails three saving throws against this spell, it drops to 0 Hit Points and has the Unconscious condition. The asphyxiation doesn’t end when this happens.
The effect ends on a target if the spell ends, if the target moves more than 120 feet away from you, or if the target no longer needs to breathe.
When the effect ends on a target, it remains Slowed until the end of its next turn as it gasps for air.
