Four hundred cubic feet of fresh wood chips drop into a 10-foot square you can see within range, 4 feet deep. When the chips are dropped, each creature in the area must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked Prone.
As a Bonus Action while concentrating on this spell, you may move 50 cubic feet of wood chips into a space you can see, up to 30 feet away. Mold Earth may also be used to move the chips.
A space containing at least 50 cubic feet of wood chips is Difficult Terrain. The pile is 2 feet high for each 50 cubic feet it contains, up to 6 feet. When a creature starts their turn within or next to a chipped space, they must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (Plants have disadvantage) or gain one level of Exhaustion. A creature may gain up to 2 levels of Exhaustion from this spell, per casting.
When you stop concentrating on this spell, the chips vanish, and you gain one level of Exhaustion.
At Higher Levels: The maximum amount of Exhaustion that can be gained from this spell increases by one for every spell slot level above 3rd.
Flavor options:
- Fey Gardening: Creatures who fail the saving throw experience a subjective hour of digging and hauling, within the duration of their turn. Immunity to or advantage against the charmed condition applies to this saving throw.
- Farmer's Lung: The steaming mulch is surrounded by a cloud of spores. Creatures who are Exhausted by this spell are diseased. Wearing a mask grants advantage on this saving throw. The cloud may be dissipated, for a round, by a gust of wind.
