You launch a ray of energy in a direction you choose, forming a 120-foot-long, 5-foot-wide Line. Each creature in the Line makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 10d10 Force damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. If this damage reduces a creature to 0 Hit Points, it and everything nonmagical it is wearing and carrying are disintegrated into gray dust. The target can be revived only by a True Resurrection or a Wish spell.
This spell automatically deals 100 force damage to a Large or smaller nonmagical object. If such a target is Huge or larger, this spell deals the damage to a 10-foot-Cube portion of it.
If the beam comes into contact with a planar portal, such as that created by the gate spell, or an extradimensional space, such as that within a portable hole, the GM determines randomly what happens, using the following table.
| 1d100 | Result |
|---|---|
| 01–50 | The contact releases a blast of energy. Each creature within 30 feet of the portal takes force damage equal to 10 times the spell slot used, and the portal is destroyed. |
| 51–85 | The portal is destroyed. |
| 86–00 | A spatial rift sends each creature and object within 100 feet of the portal to a random plane of existence. |
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d10 for each spell slot level above 6.
