You create a number of magical soap bubbles equal to 1d4 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Each bubble occupies an unoccupied 5-foot space of your choice within range and floats in place for the duration.
When a creature moves within 5 feet of a bubble or makes an attack through a bubble’s space, the bubble pops. Each creature within 5 feet of the popping bubble must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 1d4 + your spellcasting ability modifier thunder damage. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.
A creature can move past a bubble without triggering it by succeeding on a DC 10 Dexterity (Stealth) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the number of bubbles increases by 1d4 for each slot level above 1st.
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, any creature that fails the Dexterity saving throw must also succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed 5 feet away from the bubble.
