You reach out through the familiar threads connecting you to the world and briefly perceive the ripples surrounding a decision.
Ask the GM a single question about a specific decision made by you or a creature you have met within the last 7 days. The decision must have already been made; you cannot use this spell to ask about a decision that has not yet occurred.
The GM gives you one of the following impressions:
- Advantageous to You. The decision is likely to create circumstances favorable to you.
- Advantageous to the World. The decision is likely to produce beneficial consequences for the surrounding community, region, or world.
- Neutral. The decision is unlikely to have meaningful consequences in either direction.
- Detrimental to You. The decision is likely to create circumstances unfavorable to you.
- Detrimental to the World. The decision is likely to produce harmful consequences for the surrounding community, region, or world.
- Uncertain. The consequences of the decision are too dependent upon future choices or circumstances to discern.
The spell does not reveal why the decision has the indicated consequence, nor does it account for circumstances that might substantially alter its outcome.
For example, the spell cannot account for a companion dying, a creature being resurrected, another spell being cast, or a significant decision being made after the queried decision.
Fate's Echo
Each time you cast this spell after the first time you cast it since finishing a long rest, the threads of Fate become increasingly difficult to distinguish. The GM secretly determines whether the reading is distorted, with the chance of distortion increasing by 25 percent for each casting after the first.
A distorted reading is incomplete, misleading, or contradictory. The GM determines the nature of the distortion.
