You reach into the planes of Oblivion and summon a Flame Atronach. The creature appears in a flash of swirling fire in an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet.

The atronach is a living Daedric creature rather than a mindless magical construct. It recognizes you as its summoner and considers you and creatures it understands to be your allies as friendly.

Summoning the Atronach

When the spell is cast, choose an unoccupied space within range. The Flame Atronach immediately materializes there.

The atronach:

  • Rolls its own initiative when summoned.
  • Has its own turn, movement, action, and reaction.
  • Does not require the caster's actions or bonus actions to act.
  • Is controlled by the DM, not directly by the caster.
  • Remains until destroyed or dismissed by its summoner.

The caster may speak to the atronach and give it instructions, but these are not absolute magical commands. The atronach acts according to its own intelligence and understanding of the situation.

In combat, it naturally recognizes creatures that are hostile toward itself or its summoner as enemies. It attacks those creatures, defends itself, and generally attempts to protect its summoner. If no hostile creatures are present, it remains non-hostile and stays reasonably near its summoner.

The atronach will not ordinarily attack a neutral creature simply because its summoner tells it to do so. Unusual, dangerous, or unreasonable commands are adjudicated by the DM.

Appearance

The spell begins with heat rapidly gathering around the chosen point. Embers and sparks spiral through the air before erupting into a twisting column of flame.

From within the fire emerges a slender, vaguely feminine Daedric figure composed of blackened, volcanic material surrounded by constantly moving flame. Fire burns through and around its body rather than merely covering its surface. Its movements leave brief trails of flame and drifting embers in the air.

The atronach radiates noticeable heat and produces light while present. When destroyed or dismissed, its physical form collapses into flame, sparks, and smoke before disappearing back into Oblivion.
