You place a seal on a creature that you can see within range. Until the spell ends, you deal an extra 1d4 Necrotic damage to the target whenever you hit it with an attack roll. If the target drops to 0 hit points before this spell ends, you can use a bonus action on a subsequent turn of yours to place your seal on a new creature you can see.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of level 3 or higher, Fire damage you deal to the sealed target ignores Resistance to Fire damage. With a spell slot of level 5 or higher, if the sealed target has Immunity to Fire damage, it instead takes half the Fire damage you would otherwise deal to it. This damage can’t be increased by ignoring Resistance.
The seal manifests as a fiery sigil on the target, visible to any creature that can see it.
Through his experiments with curses, Astaroth devised a temporary seal that brands a single foe with infernal magic. Astaroth’s Seal of Fire was designed to pierce a creature’s defenses against fire, allowing his flames to burn even those ordinarily protected from them.
