Damage/Effect
You gesture toward a creature or point within range, calling down a highly condensed beam of energy from above. A vertical pillar of light 5 feet wide streaks down from the sky or ceiling.
Make a ranged spell attack against a target creature in the pillar. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 force damage. Because the strike hits directly from above, the target gains no benefit from half or three-quarters cover provided by walls or shields, and a shield block cannot prevent the hit.
If the attack roll is a critical hit, the concentrated energy punches directly into the terrain, creating a small, superheated shockwave. The target and each creature within 5 feet of it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or take 1d4 fire damage from the explosive heat.
At Higher Levels: This spell’s damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10).
