You attempt to slice through the fabric of a creature's timeline and weave yourself into their past. Make a melee spell attack against one creature within your reach. On a hit, the spell deals no damage, and the target must make a Charisma saving throw. On a successful save, the target is unaffected, but they feel a sudden, jarring sense of vertigo and realize magic was attempted on them.
On a failed save, the target's history is rewritten for the duration, granting the following effects:
  • The Illusion of History: The target instantly perceives you as a foundational, beloved figure from its past—such as a childhood savior, a revered military commander, or a trusted lifelong mentor.
  • Blind Interaction: You do not learn the target’s true memories or actual history; you must entirely improvise your relationship on the fly.
  • The Timeline Blind Spot: The reality distortion forces a psychological blind spot in the target's mind. If you say or do something that directly contradicts their true history, the target experiences a brief, sudden headache. They will immediately rationalize your mistake as a manifestation of your unique sense of humor, a temporary lapse in your memory, or a secret, brilliant plan that they simply aren't smart enough to understand yet.
  • Devoted Ally: The target is charmed by you. During this time, they treat you as their closest confidant, will fight to defend you from harm, and will willingly share any secrets, information, or resources they possess.
The Severed Thread. The spell ends early if you lose concentration, or if you or your companions deal any damage to the target. When the spell ends, the target's true timeline snaps back into place. The creature realizes its reality and mind were artificially bent, and it becomes instantly hostile toward you.
