You touch a dead creature (that is not undead). Provided the creature has been dead for no longer than 10 days, the spell transfers its lingering spirit into a new host. The body the spirit is guided to must have a mass equal to or less than that of its original form, or the spell fails. If the new body has a lesser mass, the creature may lose abilities that rely on accumulated energy or arcana.
If a humanoid is reincarnated into a non-humanoid form, it adopts the new creature's stat block while retaining its class features, provided they are physically compatible.
If the target's soul is not free (such as being bound by a pact with a devil or hag), or is unwilling to return, the spell fails.
The reincarnated creature retains memories of its former life and experiences, alongside those of the body it now inhabits (DM may choose how to disclose those memories). It may retain the abilities and capabilities of its original form, but replaces its original race with that of its new body, adopting the corresponding racial traits.
