Posted Jul 28, 2020"two pocket watches"? If the era is supposed to represent the 14th Century, did the pocket watch (or anything like it) even exist yet?

Posted Jul 30, 2020There are a lot of eras you can play D&D in! This is a homebrew spell, which means it's not associated with the main D&D publishers, so it's in fact meant for a homebrew campaign I've made.
The pocketwatches are suitable for a game such as Eberron, but the spell's flavor better fits the Dunamancy of Wildemount. If the pocketwatches don't fit your world's era, feel free to change the spell's material component, or use an arcane focus, which eliminates the need for the pocketwatches. You would miss out on some of the Albert Einstein special relativity jokes that way, though.

Posted Aug 1, 2020Fair point. I was in a fairly traditional (13th Century or so) game the last time I played, & I've never been in one that wasn't.
I looked at Wikipedia, which suggests hand-held or wearable clocks were possible in that era, but they wouldn't be reasonably described as "pocket" watches. ;p
As for Einstein, I'd take the attitude Mick Jagger did: time is on my side. ;p
