A wave of frost 20 feet long and 10 feet wide extends out from your hand in a direction you choose, and envelops the feet of creatures it touches. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 2d8 Cold damage and is restrained by a thick layer of ice. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage and isn't restrained.

Each turn, a creature restrained by this spell can make a Strength saving throw to break the ice. On a success, it frees itself, but cannot move that turn.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2nd.
