"Whether a symbol of status, a fashion statement, or just something to keep their head dry on a rainy day: a good hat is arguably one of the most important items a Wizard can possess." - Akora-Mai DeLor
Weaving threads of arcane energy into shape, you create a hat that fits your head comfortably and must be composed at least partially of fabric. You can choose the form that the hat takes each time you create it, as long as it can still reasonably be considered a hat, or similar piece of headgear.
Your hat disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for 1 minute or more. It also disappears if you use this spell again, or if you dismiss the hat (no action required). While dismissed in this way, you can re-summon the hat as a bonus action.
When casting the spell, you can instead choose to bind an existing hat, magical or otherwise, by holding it whilst casting the spell. You can then dismiss the hat, shunting it into an extradimensional space, and it appears whenever you cast the spell thereafter. You can’t affect an artifact or a sentient item in this way. The hat ceases to be bound if you die, if you perform the spell to bind or create another hat, or if you cast the spell to break your bond to it. The hat appears at your feet if it is in the extradimensional space when the bond breaks.
