You target an inanimate melee weapon you can see within range that is not being used by another creature. A field of colored, shimmering energy surrounds the weapon, and it begins to levitate, obeying your commands. When you first cast the spell, you may move the weapon up to 20 feet through the air and make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of the weapon. This attack does damage equal to the weapon's normal damage, plus your spellcasting ability modifier. Attacks made in this way benefit from any magical effect the weapon has on it. As long as you are concentrating on this spell, you may use a bonus action to control the weapon, allowing it to move up to 20 feet through the air and repeating the attack against a creature within 5 feet of it.

A weapon affected by this spell has an Armor Class of 15. It uses your saving throw bonuses for any saving throw it must make. The weapon is immune to mind-affecting effects and psychic damage. If the weapon would take any damage, you must succeed on a concentration saving throw, as if you were damaged instead. On a failure, the weapon ceases to be affected by this spell, falling to the ground. Either way, the weapon itself does not take damage.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot 3rd level of or higher, you may target and animate one additional weapon in this way for each slot level after 2nd. You may control all of the weapons animated by this spell as a bonus action on your turn.
