You choose a 5-foot-space you can see on the ground that you can see within range, summoning a pillar of sand from the earth. The column has a max height of 20 feet, an AC of 5, and 30 hit points. A creature standing on the space must make a Dexterity saving throw, which they can choose to fail, or be lifted up to the maximum height of the pillar. If something impedes the maximum height of the pillar, such as a ceiling, any creature or object on the pillar takes 4d6 bludgeoning damage and the pillar dissipates.
When the column dissipates, anything on top of the column immediately falls and takes normal falling damage, with another Dexterity saving throw to avoid falling prone. You can choose to lower the pillar gradually, however the pillar cannot be regrown once it lowers.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the height of the column increases by 10 feet for each slot level above 2nd.
