Until the spell ends, you control any shadows (areas with dim, shaded, or no light) in a 15-foot cube in your line of sight. The affected area can be split out into smaller areas if the total added area still equals 15' cube. You can choose from any of the following effects when you cast this spell. As an action on your turn, you can repeat the same effect or choose a different one.
Summon Shadows You can create shadow creatures (see "shadow" in monsters section) with the shadows in an affected area, as many as possible in the same turn. A 5' square must be dedicated to creating each shadow. Each attack made by each individual shadow is controlled by the caster.
If you die or are incapacitated, then the shadows evaporate away. The shadows may last till the end of the spell but need concentration in order to be animated.
Attack with Shadows You can attack enemies as an action with the shadows created in the following ways:
- Slash: A strand or multiple strands of shadows attack an enemy with 2d10 slashing damage. The damage increases by 2d10 for every strand of shadow, creatures cannot dodge the attack but the caster has to make an attack roll. A strand takes up 5-feet of space, can only reach 10 feet, and another creature cannot be in that area.
- Spear: A spear or multiple spears of shadow attack an enemy at range with 3d6 piercing damage. The damage increases by 2d6 with every added spear and the creature being attacked can dodge if they have the feature. The caster must make a dexterity ranged attack roll and the range is 60/80. The spear does not require a dedicated space but it must come from a viable area of casting.
- Coiling Grasp: You can choose to grapple a creature within 5' of a shadow source, this creature must make a DC 16 Strength saving throw at the start of its next turn and can make one every turn after. On a failure, the creature takes 2d6 force damage for every fail and continues to be grappled and can't make any movement, attacks, or reactions, otherwise, the creature breaks free and their action is expended. Once grappled, the caster can move on to make other attacks on their next turn.
Make Shape You can choose to make any shape allotted in the area you cast in. This shape cannot be greater than the area you choose to control and can only be 15' tall. it is not a solid shape so any creature or object can pass through, but a creature cannot see through it. The shape cannot inflict any damage.
Casting this spell at higher levels results in the following: at level 7 ALL damage is increased by 1d10, at level 8 you can use the Attack with Shadows effect twice in one turn and at level 9 affected area increased to 20' cube.
