You leave a waist high wall of fire in your wake as you move across surfaces. The trail starts on your current square and the fiery wall will be created along the path which you walk.
At 1st level the wall can be up to 10 feet long. This distance is measured from your current position on the surface and it dynamically generates as you move. The fiery trail covers the last 10 feet of the path you travelled whilst the spell was active, with points further back extinguishing automatically as you move.
This fire sheds bright light for 20 feet, and dim light for an additional 20 feet. The fire damages objects in the area and ignites flammable objects that aren't being worn or carried. It doesn't damage you, and lasts until you move further away (thus creating more fire in your wake), or the spell ends. The fire will also contract to your current space at the end of your turn if you haven’t walked across that surface since the end your previous turn.
When a creature other than you enters the spell's area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 1d6 fire damage on a failure, or half as much on a successful save.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, both the fire damage and length of the trail increase for each slot level above 1st. The fire damage increases by 1d6 and the damaging part of the trail is 5 feet longer per slot.
