You must target a restrained creature who is gagged because the screaming would simply make the casting unbearable. While the spell is being cast the target goes through unbearable pain. The target gains advantage on any checks to get out of its restraints for the first ten minutes of casting and then becomes incapable of trying to break free for the rest of the time. If the casting is completed the target is frightened of the caster and anyone who either looks similar to them or seems to be in some way acquainted with the caster, although if whatever the target is frightened of instructs the target to walk closer to them or to do something the target doesn't have the disadvantages of the frightened condition while doing this thing. This group that the target becomes frightened of also gains expertise as per the rogue trait in intimidation checks made against the target. The target must succeed on a DC 20 constitution saving throw that they have disadvantage on that they have a 25% chance of deciding to fail in order to resist telling the caster any information. The caster also gains the ability to automatically deal 10 psychic damage to the target and cause the target to fall prone while the target is within sight. The spell is automatically cast as a ritual, but there is no increased time.

This spell can be found in the Book of Vile Darkness and is rare elsewhere.

* - (The blood of the target which the caster's hands must be doused in before the caster performs the somatic components of the spell.)
