The object begins to radiate heat continuously at a temperature chosen by the caster up to twice the temperature of boiling water. The object itself will not suffer any heat-related damage as the spell's effect radiates outward from just before the surface of the object. If a creature is holding the object at the time of casting, the spell fails.
