You lay your hands on the pile of gemstones that make up the material components for the spell, causing them to rise 5ft. into the air and combine into a single Large crystal. This object, called a conduit, floats stationary in midair, and cannot be moved by a force of less than 1,000lbs - if such a force is applied, the conduit shatters, returning to its original, nonmagical gemstone form. You can dispel the conduit as an action, which also causes it to return to its gemstone form. In either such case, the material components of the spell are returned and scatter on the floor, typically taking 10 minutes of searching to recover.

When you first create the conduit, choose one of the following damage types: fire, cold, lightning, or thunder. Whenever a creature of your choice that is within 60ft. of the conduit casts a spell that deals damage of the conduit's type, that spell deals 3d6 additional damage to one of the spell's targets of the caster's choice.

Furthermore, on your turn, you can use a bonus action to command the conduit to make a ranged spell attack against a single target of your choice within its range. On a hit, the target takes 3d6 damage of the conduit's type. The conduit uses your spellcasting modifiers when making this attack.

The conduit is an inanimate object, with 50 Hit Points and an Armor Class of 18, and resistance to nonmagical piercing and slashing damage. If the conduit is reduced to zero hit points, it explodes, destroying the gemstones used in its creation and forcing all creatures within 15ft. of itself to make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, they take 8d6 force damage. On a success, they take only half damage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage dealt by the conduit and any spells affected by it increases by an additional 1d6.
