This spell was originally created when a wizard attempted to recreate the Teleportation Circle spell from scratch. The wizard failed to specify a destination for the circle, so the spell effectively teleported targets to a location that did not exist, resulting in massive damage. The wizard, finding that the spell was somewhat useful for blowing things up, re-categorized the failed experiment as a new spell, "Victor's Vicious Telefrag".
As you cast the spell, you draw a 10-foot-diameter circle on the ground inscribed with sigils that appear to link your location to a permanent teleportation circle. A creature who uses its action to successfully make an Intelligence (Arcana) check against the your spell save DC realizes that the circle is not a true Teleportation Circle; they realize that anyone who enters the circle will not teleport and is in fact at great risk of bodily harm. A shimmering "portal" opens within the circle you drew and remains open until the end of your next turn. Any creature that enters the "portal" or is inside of the circle when the "portal" opens takes 3d10 force damage and remains in the circle, failing to teleport. A creature reduced to 0 hp by this spell is disintegrated or exploded in a bloody mess (your choice when you cast the spell).
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d10 for each slot level above 5th.
A disintegrated or exploded creature is reduced to a pile of fine gray dust or gore respectively and everything it is wearing and carrying, except magic items, is reduced to a pile of fine gray dust. The creature can be restored to life only by means of a true resurrection or a wish spell.
This spell automatically disintegrates a Large or smaller nonmagical object or a creation of magical force as long as it is within the circle. If the target is a Huge or larger object or creation of force, this spell disintegrates a 10-foot- cube portion of it. A magic item is unaffected by this spell.
You can create a permanent telefrag circle by casting this spell in the same location every day for one year. You need not use the circle to telefrag when you cast the spell in this way.
