You trace an arcane symbol upon a surface and give it a singular purpose. This purpose can be any one of the following:
- Explode: Any creature that passes within 10 feet of the symbol that isn't you takes 1d8 fire damage and the symbol is destroyed. This also ignites any flammable objects in the are not being worn or carried.
- Detect: Any creature that passes within 10 feet of symbol that isn't you activates the symbol and you are sent a mental image of the creature. The symbol then is destroyed.
- Barrier: This requires a second symbol on the opposite side of the area you wish to create a barrier in. The two symbols link and create an invisible barrier with a maximum height of 10 feet and a maximum width of 10 feet. The barrier has an AC of 5 plus your spellcasting ability modifier and Hit points equal to the maximum number you can roll on one of your die ( you choose which if you have multiple types)
You can have a maximum of 4 symbols active at one time.
