You set fire to a piece of ammunition such as an arrow or bolt and throw it at a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 4d8 fire damage. Hit or miss, the spear then explodes. The target and each creature within 5 feet of it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d6 fire damage and 2d6 radiant damage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, each type of damage increases for each slot level above 1st. The initial fire damage increases by 1d8, and either the fire and radiant damage from the explosion increase by 1d6.
