A dark ball forms at a point you choose within range, erupts into a large sphere and then implodes on itself, draining creatures inside of their life force. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Constitution saving throw. A target takes 6d6 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. For every creature you hit that fails the saving throw you gain 2 hit points, while for every creature that passes you gain one. Plants automatically fail the saving throw.
The sphere spreads around corners. It withers plant life and instantly turns dead bodies into ash, leaving only bones behind.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
