This spell creates undead skeletons and zombies from the bones and bodies of dead animals(fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals). The animated undead animals obey simple verbal commands given by the caster, no matter what language they use. Only natural animals can be animated with this particular spell(lizards, cats large and small, frogs, weasels, dogs including wolves, bears, and herd animals and so on), including tiny and non magical, giant- sized animals. These undead remain animated until they are destroyed in combat or turned; the animating magic cannot be dispelled. The number of undead that the caster can animate depends on 3 things; the animals original challenge rating, the casters level, and the type of undead being created. The table below shows the number of animal skeletons the caster can create.
Challenge rating(CR) # Challenge rating # 0 10/per caster level 1/8-1/2 4/per caster level 1-2 2/per caster level 3-4 1/per caster level
The caster can create the following number of animal zombies challenge rating # Challenge rating # 0 6/per caster level 1/8-1/2 2/per caster level 1-2 1/per caster level 3-4 1/per caster level
All animated animal skeletons do 1/2 damage (1 hit point minimum) and movement is reduced by 1/2 of when they were alive. Animal zombies retain their stats with the exception of their movement which is slowed by 1/3rd. Skeletal and zombie animals have the same immunities as other undead, but lose any special defenses they had when they were alive;(pack tactics, keen senses, blindsight, etc.) Usually this spell is often the casters first attempt at animating dead things so any character that can turn undead does so at advantage. As with any animate undead spell the drop of blood and the bone dust should belong to the same species of animal, the flesh should be from the same class;(fish, reptile bird, mammal, and so on).
* - (a drop of blood, apiece of animal flesh, and a pinch of animal bone dust)
