Animate one undead dragon. The user must envision the dragon to animate before casting. This undead dragon is under your control for 1 hour or until you dispel the spell or when it dies. When the spell has run its course or you dispel the spell or the undead dragon dies the undead dragon will turn to dust where it stands, if it is flying it will still turn to dust.

The undead dragon can understand any language that the caster can speak. The undead dragon cannot speak, however it can transmit thoughts to its creator.

The amount of Material will determine what type of undead dragon you animate. Reference the following table.

  • 1/2 lb of dragon bones animates a wyrmling undead dragon
  • 1 lb of dragon bones animates a young undead dragon
  • 3 lbs of dragon bones animates an adult undead dragon
  • 5 lbs of dragon bones animates an ancient undead dragon

For stats of the undead dragons reference the red dragon stat blocks for the according animated dragon with a few exceptions, these are as follows.

  • Its breath attack deals necrotic damage instead of fire.
  • It is immune to cold, necrotic, and poison damage instead of fire.
  • It is now vulnerable to fire and radiant damge.
  • All ability scores, actions, legendary actions (for ancient and adult dragon), speed, hit points, armor class, saving throws, skills and senses stay the same.
