You bind one willing creature into your service as a familiar. This creature can be no larger than tiny in size and cannot have a CR higher than 1. The creature can only be a beast, fey, celestial, fiend, or dragon. This spell automatically fails if the target is unwilling.
Once bound in this way the creature and caster have the same connection and abilities described in the Find Familiar spell except for the following:
The creature remains whatever type it was originally: beast, fey, celestial, fiend, or dragon. The creature is real and as such dies when reduced to 0 hit points. When cast at higher levels you can have more than one familiar through the use of this spell.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of a higher level, you can choose to bind up to 3 willing creatures of CR 1 or lower and tiny size or one creature of CR 3 or lower and small or smaller size with a 6th-level slot, you can choose to bind up to 6 willing creatures with a CR rating of 1 or lower and tiny size; 3 willing creatures of CR rating 3 or lower and small or smaller size; 1 willing creature of CR rating 5 or lower and small or smaller size with a 9th-level slot. If cast at a higher level this spell will lose the Ritual Spell status use a spell slot and the material component cost will increase by 300 gp for 6th-level, 900 gp for 9th-level.
